Summer is here, and it's the perfect time to get outside and stay active with your family. Staying fit doesn't have to be a chore; it can be a fun and engaging way to spend time together and create lasting memories. Here are some of our favorite family activities that can keep us all moving and having a blast all summer long.​

Gardening and Yard Work

One of our absolute favorite ways to stay active during the summer is by being outdoors, especially through gardening and yard work. It's not just about keeping the yard looking great; it's a fantastic workout! We love tackling projects that have an endpoint, like cutting down trees or landscaping. It's incredibly satisfying to see the progress and know that you've accomplished something together.

Water Activities

Swimming is a fantastic way to stay active and cool at the same time. Most kids love it, whether we’re at a pool, a lake, or even just setting up a sprinkler in the yard. Water balloon fights and playing with a slip-and-slide are also great ways to have fun and get a good workout in. These activities keep everyone moving and help beat the summer heat.  

Backyard Sports

Many of our families enjoys playing a variety of sports in the backyard. From pickleball in the driveway to volleyball in the yard, there’s always something fun to do. These games are perfect for keeping everyone active and engaged. Plus, they're a great way to work on coordination, balance, and agility while having a good time.​

Scavenger Hunts

One of the most memorable activities one of our owners has done with her kids is a scavenger hunt. She wrote down a bunch of different clues and had the kids running all over the neighborhood to find the next one. It took over an hour, and they had a blast. Scavenger hunts are a fantastic way to get kids moving and thinking, and they provide an excellent workout without even realizing it.

Exploring Playgrounds

Here in Canton, OH we are fortunate to have some amazing playgrounds in our area. Modern playgrounds often have incredible features like zip lines, climbing walls, and interactive elements that keep kids entertained for hours. They offer a great mix of fun and fitness, helping kids develop their strength and coordination while having a great time.​ 

​*TIP: Pick a different playground each week and kids with have a summer full of exploration and fun!

Nature Hikes

Hiking is another favorite activity among our families. There are some awesome local parks like Quail Hollow and it's fun exploring the trails. Hiking is an excellent way to stay fit, and it’s always fun to see what we can discover along the way. Sometimes, we make up games like spotting different shapes in the clouds or identifying various plants and animals. It’s great for physical health and mental well-being.
